POPAI’s Marketing at Retail 2015 Awards expand to showcase innovation – entries now open

POPAI Australia and New Zealand has announced that its 2015 Awards are now open for entries, with designers and producers of shopper and retail marketing programs, including agencies, brand owners, POP material suppliers and retailers, expected to vie for gold, silver, and bronze honours in 25 categories.

POPAI’s Marketing at Retail Awards, the national benchmark for excellence in Retail and Shopper Marketing, has removed the ‘minimum run’ requirement in 2015, and expanded entry categories to provide more opportunity than ever for brands and agencies to showcase their best work.

“Australia and New Zealand are small population markets. This is a huge advantage; we are able to trial, test and innovate, which is why Australian Shopper Marketing programs punch above their weight on the global stage,” said general manager Lee McClymont.

“POPAI seeks to reward innovation as well as excellence. Australian retailers and brands may not go straight to 100 or more stores with innovative programs; they often trial them in targeted stores first.  By removing the minimum run requirement, we open up our Awards to showcase the innovation pipeline in Australia.”

Ms McClymont says that large-scale campaigns and trials are not a ‘like for like’ comparison, however, and each will be judged on its merits and outcomes versus objective. The minimum requirement is that the campaign must have been a fully client/brand-funded campaign, activated in market.

“The 2015 POPAI Marketing at Retail Awards offers a wide range of entry categories in the Physical Store stream, in line with POPAI’s long heritage at the forefront of best practice in-store marketing,” she said.

“In addition, we offer new and exciting Award opportunities for our members and industry, through a Shopper Experience Stream, including new categories for digital, social and mobile, direct marketing/loyalty programs, and occasion-based shopper campaigns.”

“For the first time, we are also holding a People’s Choice and Packing Room Award, in addition to our Pinnacle ‘Best of the Best’ awards.”

The Awards are announced in September and are presented at a Gala Dinner at Pyrmont, Sydney on September 8. Entries close July 10.
