Western Australia’s state liquor authority has granted Aldi its second liquor licence in the state.
The German supermarket giant was granted a licence for its store in the suburb of Wattle Grove, in the east of Perth.
The licence follows from the first Aldi store, in Butler,which was awarded its licence earlier this year.
The licence covers an area of approximately 30sqm within Aldi’s Wattle Grove supermarket, which stock in the region of 60 wines (red, white, sparkling and fortified), 16 beers, 15 spirits and four ciders.
There is no cool room or other refrigeration in the store’s liquor area, with all the prodcuts being stocked and sold at room temperatures.
In his decision to approve the licence WA’s Director of Liquor Licensing (DLL) acknowledged that the area of Wattle Grove has nearly doubled in size since 2006 and that there are currently no packaged liquor outlets in the suburb.

And yet they’re still being told they can’t sell liquor in W.A even with the license. It’s a joke! It has nothing to do with the prices being “too low” who the hell is going to drive from freo to wattle grove to save $1 on a bottle of wine?! No one.
I imagine the same coles douchebag in the government doesn’t want the competion because he’ll lose money when more competion enters the region.
It’s also not going to send a bad message for youth having another liquor store. Cut the c@@p. Perth prices are already so of the worst in the country and they’ve proven it’s got nothing to do with our location!!! It’s because we stupidly continue to pay for it.
That’s what you get when you have a mining state of bogans with too much money to have common sense.
