New research from Finder.com.au has found that almost a quarter of gift cards received at Christmas 2018, will be unwanted.

23% of respondents to the survey said they don’t care for gift cards, while 18% can’t decide if they are a good gift or a waste of money.

Men are twice as likely as women to turn their noses up at receiving gift cards as presents.

Compared to a few years ago, when over $2.5 billion dollars of gift card sales was the norm, Finder.com.au said there was a collective waste of $148 million in 2017, due to unused gift cards.
