M&M’s launch new flavour

Mars Wrigley Australia  have delivered a very fitting celebration for World Chocolate Day today by announcing the launch of a new M&M’s flavour.

From next week, fans of the bite-sized chocolate treat can get their hands on the latest sweet and salty treat in M&M’s Pretzel.

Better yet, the treat has been made right here in Australia thanks to a $300,000 investment in equipment by Mars to boost the manufacturing capabilities of its Ballarat factory, in regional Victoria.

The factory is now able to produce more than five billion M&M’s per year and the manufacturing boost will also allow the company to explore further future innovations for M&M’s.

The investment is part of a $37 million commitment pledged this year to upgrade and future proof the company’s Australian facilities, which Mars Wrigley Australia General Manager Andrew Leakey said was a long term goal for the company.

“We are dedicated to continuing to support Australia’s manufacturing sector and invest and innovate in infrastructure, equipment and processes at our local factories to ensure they remain world class. This latest project is part of our long-term ambition to continue to drive and develop our core bitesize brands that we manufacture locally in Ballarat,” Mr Leakey said.

“We are thrilled to be introducing a new variant into our bitesize portfolio with our locally produced M&M’S Pretzel for chocolate lovers in Australia to enjoy.”

The Ballarat factory can already lay claim to inventing Pods and M&M’s Honeycomb and is one of four Mars factories internationally to manufacture and export Maltesers.

M&M’s Pretzel will be available in Coles stores from July 13 and will launch in Woolworths stores on July 28.
