Amazon Australia has launched Amazon Business, a new B2B platform aimed at helping organisations streamline purchasing.
Amazon Business offers access to business-only pricing, quantity discounts, multi-user accounts, guided buying tools, spending limits, and invoicing. Features such as Business Prime and approval workflows aim to help companies manage procurement more efficiently.
Lena Zak, Amazon Business Australia Country Manager, said Amazon Australia is excited to support Australian businesses and organisations of all sizes with simplifying a critical aspect of their operations, so they can focus on what’s most important to them: serving their own customers better, while growing their organisations.
“We know that 78 per cent of SMBs have had to implement cost-cutting measures over the past three years. As operating costs keep rising, Amazon Business can help take some of that pressure off by offering meaningful savings on everyday goods and supplies, along with the convenience and simplicity of our delivery experience.”
The announcement comes amid research commissioned by Amazon and conducted by YouGov, which found 92 per cent of Australian small and medium businesses (SMBs) have experienced increased operating costs over the past three years. Rising costs of goods and products were cited by 62 per cent of respondents as the main contributor.
Australia is the 11th market to receive Amazon Business, following launches in countries including the US, UK, Japan and India. The platform has more than eight million customers globally and generates around $35 billion in annualised gross sales.
Majid Ali, owner of Canberra-based Posh Majestic, said selling on Amazon has been a great move for their business, connecting them with customers all over Australia.
“I’m really looking forward to what Amazon Business can do for my business as it will open up a whole new cohort of customers, meaning I can now reach business customers through Amazon.”
