Coca-Cola Amatil has announced its sustainability objectives to 2040, which will focus on four priority areas – water, consumer wellbeing, packaging and carbon reduction.

The first priority that has been outlined is to sustain net zero water operations by only sourcing from sustainable water sources. Also, considering community needs, and improving vulnerability assessments, management plans, measurement, reporting and transparency for communities.

The second focus is on improving consumer wellbeing by 2025. This will be done by reducing the total non-alcoholic beverages portfolio sugar grams per 100ml by 35 per cent in Indonesia, and by 20 per cent in Australia and New Zealand.

The company will also have a focus on responsible marketing, offering choice and information to help consumers to make decisions. It will also not aim or direct any media marketing activity to children under the age of 12.

It will aim to close the loop on packaging by 2030, offering pack-to-pack recycling solutions in all of its markets. It will also develop the feasibility of using an average of 75 per cent recycled or renewable plastic across its total PET packaging portfolio by 2030.

Finally, the business will aim for net zero carbon emissions by 2040. To do this, it has set a goal of using 100 per cent renewable electricity in Australia and New Zealand by 2025.

It will reduce other emissions in line with The Coca-Cola Company’s Science-Based Target reduction by 2030.
