End Food Waste Australia CEO resigns after eight years

The CEO of End Food Waste Australia, Dr Steven Lapidge, has resigned after more than eight years leading the organisation.

Dr Lapidge, who founded the organisation, played a key role in its establishment and growth into what is now the world’s largest public-private partnership dedicated to tackling food waste.

The Board has accepted his resignation and will begin a national search for a new CEO. Chair John Webster acknowledged Dr Lapidge’s contributions.

“Steve has been a remarkable visionary and a passionate leader, guiding End Food Waste Australia to its prominent global position. We greatly appreciate Steve’s commitment to the food waste cause, the organisation and to ensuring a smooth transition.”

Dr Lapidge said the timing was right for new leadership.

“After over eight incredible years leading End Food Waste Australia, it feels like the right time to pass the reins to someone new who can guide the organisation into its next phase,” he said.

The Board has invited Dr Lapidge to join as a director once a new CEO is appointed. He will also continue as Champion 12.3 Ambassador, representing the organisation in its ongoing efforts to reduce food waste.

“I look forward to joining the Board and continuing to play a role in guiding the organisation,” Dr Lapidge said. “This decision also allows me to pursue the next chapter of my career with a new challenge.”

Recruitment firm 100 Percent Partners has been engaged to conduct a national search for the next CEO. The Board will provide further updates as the process progresses.
