Kellanova to donate 6,000 serves of food in street pantry initiative

Kellanova is set to deliver over 6,000 serves of food through a community initiative marking World Hunger Day on 28 May.

In response to Foodbank’s 2024 Hunger Report, which found that 48 per cent of Australians in low-income households’ experience food insecurity, Kellanova staff will stock 22 community street pantries across Sydney and Auckland with Kellogg’s cereals and snacks.

Street pantries, many of which began during the COVID-19 pandemic, operate under a simple principle: “Take what you need, give what you can.” They are maintained by community members and supported by local donations.

Emily Tasioulas, Corporate Affairs Manager at Kellanova ANZ, said local heroes across our cities keep these pantries going, and they’re an essential resource for people doing it tough

“We wanted to do our part to support their efforts and help ensure no one goes without.”

The company also made a special delivery to Pantry 4 The People, a long-standing pantry located near its Botany site.

Rachael Smith, Founder of Pantry 4 The People, praised Kellanova’s initiative.

“It’s a wonderful and unique way of giving back, providing a way for people in need to receive help quickly and easily.”

Kellogg’s, now operating as Kellanova, has a long history of food relief efforts. Since 2013, the company has donated over 68 million serves of food in Australia and New Zealand, with a goal of reaching 100 million serves by 2030. Through its charitable foundation, it has also supported 44 food security projects in rural and remote communities.
