Nestlé Australia has partnered with food rescue organisation OzHarvest to provide 400,000 meals to Australians in need over the next year.
The partnership comes as OzHarvest’s latest Annual Community Needs survey reveals 50,000 people are unable to access food each month — a 54 per cent increase compared to the previous year.
Sandra Martinez, CEO of Nestlé Australia, said the partnership with OzHarvest is a natural extension of their own commitment to make a positive impact on local communities and the environment in which they live.
“At Nestlé, we believe in the power of food to change lives and are proud to be working with an organisation that makes such a profound impact on the lives of so many Australians.”
The collaboration will also focus on promoting nutrition education and reducing household food waste, as well as offering Nestlé employees opportunities to volunteer through initiatives like Cooking for a Cause and food rescue collections.
Ronni Kahn AO, Founder of OzHarvest, welcomed the partnership.
“When we join forces with purpose at the centre, that’s when magic happens. Our new partnership with Nestlé is about shared values and a deep understanding that food has the extraordinary power to transform lives.
“In these challenging times, more people than ever need our help, so we’re thrilled to welcome Nestlé to the OzHarvest family to help us create lasting impact in communities across Australia.”
The partnership will also support OzHarvest’s education and awareness programs aimed at encouraging Australians to reduce food waste in their homes.
