PayPal launches new unified platform for Australian businesses

PayPal has launched its new merchant platform, PayPal Open, in Australia, bringing together all its business solutions into one system aimed at supporting merchants of all sizes.

The platform enables Australian businesses – from small start-ups to large enterprises – to access PayPal’s full suite of payment, financial and risk management tools through a single interface.

Andrew Toon, General Manager for PayPal Australia’s payments business, said with PayPal Open, they are delivering one platform for all businesses — a unified commerce solution built to evolve with the needs of Australian merchants.

“From helping small businesses seamlessly manage cash flow to enabling large enterprises to design customised solutions at scale, PayPal Open unites it all in one powerful, streamlined platform.”

PayPal Open connects businesses to the company’s global network of up to 400 million active accounts and supports more than 140 currencies in over 200 markets. It also integrates with leading third-party commerce tools, allowing businesses to customise solutions for their operations.

According to PayPal, the new platform enables merchants to power payments across the globe through PayPal’s checkout options, including Pay in 4 and Fastlane, as well as card and digital wallet processing through a single integration. It also helps businesses drive growth by tapping into PayPal’s customer network and flexible lending solutions such as PayPal Working Capital, while providing data insights from PayPal’s global transaction network to optimise sales and performance.

“PayPal Open delivers innovation to our customers today, while preparing them for success in the future.

“The platform acts as a framework where we, and our partners, can contribute new solutions, expanding the capabilities on offer to the hundreds of thousands of Australian businesses that are a part of the PayPal ecosystem,” said Toon.

PayPal said security remains central to its offering, with the platform designed to provide safe, streamlined transactions for Australian businesses as they scale and adapt to evolving digital commerce needs.
