Box Hill police have seized more than $40,000 worth of illegal vapes and nicotine pouches in Burwood early on Wednesday 15 October.
Officers on patrol spotted a black Mercedes wagon driving erratically near the intersection of Station Street and Burwood Road about 4am. Checks revealed the vehicle had a suspended registration, and the driver’s licence was disqualified.
The driver allegedly admitted to having a small amount of marijuana, giving police the power to search the car under the Drugs, Poisons and Controlled Substances Act. Officers found a large quantity of illegal vapes and nicotine pouches with an estimated street value exceeding $40,000.
A 24-year-old Carnegie man is expected to be charged on summons. The Mercedes was impounded at a cost of $966.50.
