New research has identified the Chiko Roll as Australia’s most popular snack, surpassing the widely beloved Tim Tam.
The analysis, conducted by courier service Pack & Send, ranked snacks based on search volume data, revealing that the deep-fried savoury roll received a perfect popularity score of 100. The study found that Australians search for ‘Chiko Roll’ an average of 9,900 times per month, solidifying its place at the top of the rankings.
Nicholas Woodward, Country Manager of Pack & Send, said whether you favour sweet over savoury, Australia produces an abundance of beloved – and unforgettable – treats that residents and visitors alike can’t get enough of.
“While there’s plenty of debate on the best snack, this data suggests a clear winner – the humble Chiko Roll takes the crown followed by Tim Tam.”
Tim Tam ranked second with a popularity score of 82 and 8,900 monthly searches. Other highly ranked snacks included Cheezels, Cherry Ripe, and Lamingtons. Passiona, the passionfruit-flavoured soft drink, tied with Lamingtons for fifth place, followed by Violet Crumble in seventh. Meat Pies and Anzac Biscuits shared eighth place, while Burger Rings rounded out the top 10.
Pack & Send noted a significant demand for Australian snacks internationally, with search interest for “Australian snacks” reaching 10,700 global monthly queries and ‘Tim Tam’ alone attracting nearly 50,000 global searches.
