Wendy’s has returned to Australia for the first time in 40 years, with the opening of a new store in Cavill Avenue, Gold Coast.
Flynn’s Restaurant Group will operate the franchise for Wendy’s in Australia, with a plan to open 200 Wendy’s eateries across Australia by 2034.
E.J. Wunsch, International President of Wendy’s, said this is the start of a journey to bring Wendy’s unique, fresh, famous food to fans across Australia as they continue their expansion throughout the Asia Pacific region.
“The opening of the first Wendy’s restaurant on Australia’s Gold Coast is an exciting milestone, showcasing the brand’s global relevance and proven ability to travel around the world,” Wendy’s international president said.
The opening of the flagship store on the Gold Coast follows a positive reaction from Sydneysiders to a one-day Wendy’s pop-up event in 2021 and the overwhelming interest following its intention to launch in Australia.
Abigail Pringle, President, International and Chief Development Officer of The Wendy’s Company, said Australia is a strategic market for long-term growth for Wendy’s.
“Flynn Restaurant Group has incredible experience in the restaurant space, and we are thrilled to expand our relationship with them. They have a strong leadership team, great culture, vast industry knowledge, success with our brand in the U.S., and we are confident that Flynn Restaurant Group is the right partner to unlock growth for Wendy’s in Australia.”
Lauren Leahy, Executive at Flynne Group, said they are proud to bring a fresh approach to the Australian food scene.
“The Wendy’s brand was built on doing things differently, from square hamburgers to being one of the most talked about brands on social media.
“We’ve put our guests in the centre of every detail from a vibrant new restaurant design with a laser focus on delivering the best chicken and hamburger experience.”
