Pick up a box of Christmas cheer at IGA

IGA and Foodbank's Hungry Puffs

IGA have embraced the spirit of Christmas this year, helping to give back to kids doing it tough.

Partnering with charity Foodbank WA, more than 200 of the supermarket chain’s West Australian stores will take part in the Hungry Puff’s campaign.

Shoppers can add an empty cereal box for $5, which will provide 10 meals to kids who may otherwise go hungry.

Foodbank estimate the number of children across the state who have skipped a meal within the last 12 months to be as high as 100,000.

The campaign is also running online and customers can purchase virtual boxes from the Foodbank website.

The campaign was also run last year and provided more than 625,000 meals.

Kellogg’s are also on board as a major partner this year, pledging to donate one bowl of cereal for each box sold.

Kellogg’s Director of Marketing and Corporate Affairs Tamara Howe said the company was a natural fit and this furthered their commitment to work towards ending hunger.

“No child should ever go hungry, which is why we’re incredibly humbled to be a part of the initiative this year, to help feed West Australian children who are experiencing food insecurity,” she said.
