Aldi ramps up recruitment for WA entry

Aldi Australia has begun recruiting for more than 400 new positions across Perth and its surrounds, as it prepares for its Western Australian expansion in 2016.

Aldi has opened applications for trainee store manager and retail assistant positions, with all applications available via its local website, Aldicareers.com.au.

As Aldi’s WA expansion continues to progress, confirmed locations of interest include Cannington, Southern River, Halls Head, Kwinana, Rockingham, Harrisdale, Australind, South Lake, Joondalup, Butler, Camillo, Mundaring, Mandurah and Ellenbrook.

Aldi has invested around $700 million in its expansion into WA and South Australia, with the rollout to include two warehouse distribution centres and up to 120 stores across both states.

“As one of the country’s fastest growing retailers, Aldi is looking for dynamic, enthusiastic and ambitious people to help bring the Aldi difference to Western Australia.”

According to Ibisworld, Aldi now holds around 8.1 per cent of the $88 billion local grocery market since first launching in 2001. Aldi’s industry related revenue in Australia is anticipated to grow at an annualised 17.4 per cent over the five years through December 2015.

South Australian opening edges closer

Aldi announced in November 2015 it would open it first stores in South Australia on February 3, 2016, after completing construction of its Regency Park distribution centre.

Following the opening of its first stores at Seaford Heights, Parafield Gardens, Hallett Cove and Woodcroft in February, Aldi will open more at Modbury, Noarlunga, Mount Barker and St Agnes in March.

By the end of 2016, there is expected to be a total 16 stores across South Australia. As Aldi’s South Australian expansion continues to progress, other confirmed areas of interest include West Lakes, Hawthorn, Victor Harbor, Blakeview, Smithfield, Kilburn, Gilles Plains, Berri, Marion, Aldinga, Evanston, Nuriootpa, Golden Grove, Salisbury, Mount Gambier, Port Pirie and Yorke Peninsula.
