Bickford’s launches Australian first plant-based milk variety

Bickford’s is tapping into a new category with the launch of a vegan-friendly Premium Plant Milk range across Australia, including an Australian first, Pistachio milk.

The range has launched with five different varieties – Almond, Oat, Cashew, Macadamia and Pistachio. They are all made from more than 90 per cent Australian ingredients with no artificial sweeteners or GMOs.

Chris Illman, Bickford’s Group Sales and Marketing Manager, says the plant-based milk range is being launched in line with consumer demand, with sales for milk alternatives in Australia having grown 48 per cent to 132 million litres in the past four years.

“We’re responding to global demand for plant-based milks and Bickford’s Premium Plant Milk is the result of investment in world-class technology. Combining Australian innovation with over 100 years of expertise Bickford’s continues to lead the way in beverage production.

“We’re proudly investing in the latest and most advanced manufacturing technologies, which has ensured we can extend our capabilities. In 2019, we introduced our world-class Aseptic filling line, one of the only of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere,” he says.

The Aseptic line ensures the milk range is preservative free as well as ensuring the flavour and colour integrity of the nuts and grains is optimised. The range is all made using PET, with a proportion of recycled content in the one litre bottles.

The one litre Bickford’s Premium Plant Milks are available in independent retailers nationally, found in the chilled drinks aisle, with an RRP of  $6.
