Quarterly figures released this week by Wesfarmers show that total sales at Coles Express have fallen by 16.6% in the third quarter when compared to the previous quarter. Total sales of $1.6 billion were recorded for the quarter. This includes fuel sales which, despite higher fuel volumes, have been impacted by lower fuel prices.
According to Wesfarmers Limited 2015 Third Quarter Retail Sales Results, which was released on 29 April, total Coles Express sales for the financial year to date decreased 9.4% to $5.6 billion
For Coles Express, convenience store sales saw an increase of 7.7% for the quarter (5.2% on a comparable store basis) with convenience store sales continuing to grow strongly due to a sustained focus on improving the merchandise offer for customers.
Coles Express continued to expand its network during the quarter, opening two new sites, bringing the total store network to 654 sites.
