Greener raises $4M to turn the economy green

Greener, Australia’s number one cleantech startup, has raised $4 million in seed funding backed by NAB Ventures and RealVC to establish a greener economy and reduce carbon emissions.

On a mission to make every dollar spent in Australia carbon-neutral, Greener is a certified B company that simplifies consumer decision-making by connecting them with brands that are better for the planet.

“Sustainability can be complicated, and the more you learn the more difficult it gets. But it doesn’t have to be. That’s why we’re focused on simple solutions that are underpinned by a positive message of hope,” says Tom Ferrier, Founder of Greener.

“By rewarding greener businesses with new customers, and helping consumers take action at no cost, we can drive unprecedented impact. If everyone got behind the green economy just here in Australia, we could help take the equivalent of 58 million cars off the road each year,” says Ferrier.

Greener has partnered with local and international companies, such as Microsoft, T2 Tea, Afends, Scoop Wholefoods, Brew Dog, Huskee and Go for Zero, to create a community of brands leading the economy towards carbon neutrality.

According to Greener trials, businesses who partnered with them saw a 10 per cent customer growth and a 23 per cent reduction in emissions from purchases on the part of consumers.

This double-sided tech solution underpins Greeneer’s business model, rewarding businesses and customers for switching to more sustainable practices.

With consumers increasingly prioritising sustainability and choosing brands that clearly state their values, according to a study by Forbes, a partnership with NAB Ventures, one of the big four in Australia, opens many doors for both parties.

“We all have a part to play in climate action and NAB certainly recognises our role,” says Todd Forest, Managing Director at NAB Ventures. “We’re continuously looking at ways we can support our customers and colleagues to take action to reduce their carbon footprint and we think Greener’s product has great potential.

“Greener is an excellent fit for NAB Ventures and we look forward to working with them and exploring further opportunities together,” he says.

“At RealVC, we invest in startups led by purpose, and we’re particularly excited about backing Aussie businesses that are driving sustainability,” said Paul Saunders, Investment Partner at RealVC.

“Greener’s simple yet innovative business model presents an opportunity to drive real change by putting people and businesses at the centre of the climate solution and making greener choices tangible.

“We look forward to supporting Greener as they roll out their game-changing offering and turbocharge the green economy,” says Saunders.
