IGA teams up with Australia Post

IGA scores 5 stars

Earlier this week the 2019 Canstar Blue Most Satisfied Customers Awards were announced and Metcash-owned IGA came in second place overall (ahead of Coles & Woolies), and were awarded the only five-star review for customer service.

Canstar Blue’s 2019 supermarket review compared ALDI, IGA, Coles, Woolworths and Foodland, on product freshness, customer service, store layout, variety of products, deals & specials, quality of private label products, value for money and overall shopping satisfaction.

The Independent Grocers of Australia works by utilising group purchasing and marketing, while store management and ownership stays independent. More and more solo shops are joining the IGA name, which currently has more than 1,400 locations across Australia, from small corner shops to sprawling supermarkets. Many IGA shops also carry more local brands, speciality products, or imports for some different variety from your usual supermarket stock.

  • Scoring the only five-star rating for customer service, IGA was also rated four stars for variety of products and overall satisfaction, with three stars in all remaining categories, including layout of store, quality of private label products and value for money.

The win is well deserved for Independent Grocers Australia, as locals are at the heart of everything the supermarkets do. At the recent IGA Awards of Excellence, it was highlighted that some of the stores had made the effort to know all their regular customers by name, some also home-delivered and unpacked groceries for customers who needed assistance; sometimes driving them home when they get a little lost.
