Police investigating crash at Viva Energy’s Geelong Refinery

Victoria Police are appealing for witnesses after a car crashed into scaffolding inside Viva Energy’s Refinery at Corio on Monday night.

An investigation is underway following the incident, where it is understood the vehicle was travelling along Lowe Street before crashing into scaffolding inside Viva Energy’s Geelong Refinery at approximately 10:45 pm.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be determined, but Police say the driver of the vehicle, a 36-year-old Lara man, was uninjured.

A Viva Energy spokesperson confirmed that the vehicle hit and damaged some scaffolding within the refinery site and that no one was injured in the incident.

“Emergency Services were contacted and Victoria Police remain in control of the incident,” said the Viva spokesperson.
