Ritchies Supermarkets partners with The Salvation Army

Ritchies Supermarkets and Kraft Heinz have partnered with The Salvation Army this May to launch a new in-store promotion.

The promotion, Buy One, Give One, will mean that every Heinz and Gravox product purchased from any Ritchies Supermarket, between May 22 to 28, Kraft Heinz will donate food supplies of the equivalent value to The Salvation Army.

Judi Agnew, Relationship Manager Corporate Partnerships at The Salvation Army, said providing meals to people is a key part of the work they do.

“Large-scale donations of food items have an enormous impact on the people we support every day, particularly noting the rising cost of living and financial pressures when it comes to affording everyday items such as groceries.”

In 2022, the Pantry Week initiative saw over 32.1 thousand units of food donated to The Salvation Army, and Kraft Heinz and Ritchies Supermarkets are aiming to donate additional food items this year to meet growing needs.

Fred Harrison, CEO at Ritchies Supermarkets, said they would love to exceed the donations from 2022 to help The Salvation Army provide more meals to the community in 2024.

“We encourage our customers to shop with the knowledge that when you buy one, you are making a real difference as we give one back to those in need.”

There has been an increasing number of food requests from charities around Australia with the rising cost-of-living meaning many households are experiencing food insecurity. Between July 2022 – June 2023, through their homelessness services alone, The Salvation Army provided more than 1.63 million meals to homeless people in the community.

Anderson Carneiro, Commercial Director at Kraft Heinz, said by donating food supplies to The Salvation Army, they hope to support those in our community who are doing it tough during this time.

“At Kraft Heinz we are committed to the communities across Australia including those living in remote areas.”
