Technical glitch coats Swiss town in chocolate powder

Forget snow or rain — a Swiss town had a far sweeter deluge when it was left covered in cocoa powder following a technical glitch at a Lindt factory.

Like something from a fairytale, the town of Olten, near Zurich, was covered in the powdery mist on Friday after an air cooling and ventilation system on a cocoa nibs processing line at the factory malfunctioned.

Strong wings in the area at the time then carried the fragments of crushed cocoa beans across the town, according to reports by BBC, which also showed a car covered in cocoa dust.

The system has since been repaired and production lines restored and the company has been quick to assure that the powder is harmless to both people and the environment.

No doubt the event sparked many chocolate cravings in the town.
