The first Ampol Woolworths Metro site opens

Two iconic Australian brands have come together for the very first time with the opening of the first Ampol Woolworths Metro site.

The opening in Dee Why, NSW is a milestone as it marks the return of the Ampol brand to Sydney’s northern beaches for the first time in 25 years.

Ampol Woolworths Metro brings together the best of each brand’s offering – “high quality fuel, great customer service and fresh food”.

Two Woolworths Metro pilot sites were opened in 2019 under Ampol’s former brand, Caltex. The past year has been spent studying their performance and fine-tuning the format, with a focus on tailoring the offering to location and customer segments.

Martine Cooper, General Manager, Merchandising and Supply Chain, said that the Dee Why site launch has been a great success.

“The new store showcases everything you’d expect from an Ampol store and from a Woolworths Metro store, setting a new standard of service, product quality and range.

“The site brings the Dee Why community and its visitors a localised, convenient and affordable offering where customers can get access to our new Amplify premium fuels, as well as fresh food-for-now, food-for-later and even hats and thongs for the beach,” Cooper told C&I.

The launch forms part of the company’s revitalisation of the iconic Australian Ampol brand. Dee Why is one of the first sites in Australia to showcase the new brand, with the remaining 1,900 to be transitioned over the next two years.

Customers in broader Sydney will get a glimpse into the new Ampol Woolworths Metro format this year, with its Northmead, Lane Cove and Randwick sites set to be upgraded over the next couple of months.

  1. AMPOL NEW LAMBTON – DISGRACEFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE. Missing items in online order, no receipt attached, bag left wide open, no contact or anything to say if there was sold out items or not – As well as no refund given. Tried calling numerous times but the store will not answer calls. Crap service. Stick it up your ass!
