Capgemini launches digital service design consultancy, Backelite

Capgemini, a global leader in consulting, technology and outsourcing service, has launched its digital service design consultancy, Backelite, in Australia as it looks to grow its local design and digital innovation offerings.

Backelite will operate in collaboration with Capgemini’s consulting arm and marks the creation of new full service digital offering that will deliver solutions, creating user experiences across websites, tablets, mobiles and wearables.

Among Backelite’s customers in Australia is Coca-Cola Amatil (CCA), which is using the service as part of its digital transformation strategy. According to CCA GM, Samantha Mitchell, CCA’s Fast Track Tomorrow Today B2B platform was one of the first projects the beverage company worked on with Capgemini to help streamline customer ordering online and create a self service portal.

“We enhanced our ordering tools and we’re now [implementing] self service. We want to be the best at shopping, catalogue browsing and cross sell and up sell and Capgemini are working closely with us on getting that user journey and customer experience right,” Ms Mitchell said.

“Having a vision is one thing, but it’s really important to make sure you allow people to know where you’re going so they can get on the journey with you.”

Nicolas Aidoud, CEO of Capgemini Australia and New Zealand, said the launch of Backelite in Australia is “a natural extension of our capabilities, leveraging on Capgemini’s global footprint.”

“Backelite is integral to our ambition to accelerate digital and will enhance our current capabilities at Capgemini. The digital ecosystem is evolving at such a fast pace so it is important to offer our clients a compelling full service solution that can design, create and optimise digital services around our customers’ needs,” Mr Aidoud said.
