Ampol awards Surf Life Saving Clubs with vital equipment

Inverloch SLSC and Mudjimba SLSC have both won an Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) hull from Ampol in a recent competition.

During April and May, Ampol, in partnership with Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA), ran a competition for two Surf Life Saving Clubs to each win a brand-new IRB hull. Over 640 entries were received, with Inverloch SLSC and Mudjimba SLSC selected as the winners.

Jenny O’Reagan, Chief Brand Officer at Ampol, said they are proud to see their partnership with SLSA break new ground with the delivery of the IRBs.

“Safety and wellbeing are key focus areas of our community investment strategy, and I am pleased that this new infrastructure will make an important difference for the Inverloch and Mudjimba communities as we head toward the next beach patrol season.”

Adam Weir, CEO of SLSA, said all 315 Surf Life Saving Clubs around Australia would benefit from having this equipment, so he is not surprised by the number of entries.

“IRBs are a critically important resource for our frontline surf rescue capabilities that allow our people to respond and act efficiently and effectively, when protecting our coastline.

“Congratulations to Inverloch SLSC and Mudjimba SLSC and thank you to Ampol for continuing to help us power local Surf Life Saving Clubs and volunteers in supporting our communities.”
