Body Science buys Halo Food production plant

Body Science and its Swedish parent company, Humble Group, have purchased a Sydney production plant from Halo Food Co.

The line production plant in the Sydney suburb of Prestons has manufacturing capabilities for fudge and protein bars, and Humble Group will look to expand this to Body Science products as well as being open to other contract manufacturing opportunities.

Sheree Young, CEO of Body Science, said they are excited for the capabilities that this acquisition brings to their existing business model within Australia.

“It provides us the opportunity to bring manufacturing within the group while maintaining our Australian-made heritage. Perfect to control innovation and capacity planning.”

Young explained that all staff at the Prestons plant have been offered employment via Humble Group on the same terms as their current arrangements.

“With the expansion of the plant’s operations, the group will also be looking to increase employment opportunities and has already hired additional staff.”

Body Science was acquired by Swedish FMCG business Humble Group last year, with Simon Petrén, CEO of Humble Group, stating at the time that it was a unique company.

“In addition to expanding our product range through the acquisition, we are also taking a strategic step into a new geographic market that opens up additional distribution opportunities to stores with nationwide coverage and new sales channels in online sales.”
