National Volunteering Week

Kellogg’s employees step up for National Volunteering Week

More than 50 Kellogg’s employees will be volunteering across Australia to mark National Volunteering Week, which runs from 16-22 May.

The theme for this year’s National Volunteering Week is ‘Better Together’ – a theme that aims to recognise the contribution of all employees in complex organisational structures, and the role that companies can play in helping employees find true purpose.

The theme hits home for the Kellogg Company, which has a hybrid work model with staff in the office, on the ground in-store and in the factory. As such, employee benefits and experiences must reflect the unique needs of all employees.

Brett Mortensen, Senior Director, Human Resources Australia & New Zealand at Kellogg Company champions a Total Health framework to ensure all of the company’s employees are having their wellbeing needs addressed across the hybrid workplace.

“Taking a holistic approach, we are focusing on aspects we believe are necessary to total wellbeing, landing on four key pillars – Physical, Emotional, Financial and Social health. At Kellogg, we know that everyone in our team is different, and we do our best to tailor our resources to suit each unique situation – our HR initiatives reflect this with Being at Your Best Days, Locate for Your Day, an individualised wellbeing allowance, volunteering days, and half day Fridays to name a few.”

Already this year, Kellogg’s Australia is seeing a 70 per cent uplift in staff volunteering compared to 2021 – as employees across the hybrid working environment embrace a Total Health framework.

“We’re actively promoting making meaningful connections in the workplace and creating purpose for all workers – this includes the role of the office, creating a culture of inclusion especially in a hybrid working environment, and helping employees find true purpose via programs such as volunteering.”
