Pringles unveils new sustainable packaging solution

Pringles has taken the first step in developing more sustainable packaging solutions across its range by removing the plastic cap from its 53g varieties.

The plastic cap will be replaced with a foil seal that has been strengthened to maintain the high quality of the chips inside. The change will remove 26 tons of plastic waste per year in Australia.

Kavita Desai, Brand Manager – Snacks at Kellogg’s Australia, said this is a promising first step as the brand continues to innovate and implement new ways to be sustainable with its packaging across the board.

“While it may seem like a small change, it will have a positive impact on our environment. We can’t wait to see Aussies popping open their favourite Pringles can with the new and improved seal, while still enjoying the classic Mr P flavours.”

The removal of the plastic cap will see a 48 per cent reduction in plastic on each 53g can, all while maintaining the freshness, crunch and taste that Australians love about Pringles chips.

Coles has started stocking the lidless Pringles 53g Sour Cream and Onion variety, with the lidless 53g Original variety from available from August.
